Vindicare Temple Assasin
Story: (will prolly be changed when i get back home)
The Vindicare Assassins specialise in vengeance and revenge killings. They make use of a specially designed, long range Sniper Rifle called the Exitus Rifle. The Vindicare Assassin brings inglorious death to the Emperor's enemies with a Sniper's bullet. Vindicare Assassins have been known to wait in a position for as long as two weeks before taking a shot. Many rebellions and cults have been ended with one, perfect shot from a Vindicare's rifle. The extra high training of a Vindicare Assassin enables them to pick out a single target even amongst roving hordes of enemies on the battlefield.

Strength: 17 + 1.8
Agility: 22 + 1.6 <-
Intelligence: 18 + 2.6

attack range: 750
movement speed: 310

innate: Exodus Rifle
"One shot is all i need" The weapon of choise for Vindicare Assassin's are powerful, slow firing sniper rifles that excell in killing single targets with single shots. Gives the Assassin 40/47/54/61/68/75 damage, and a 5/6/7/8/9/10% chance to instantly kill a creep or hero below 10/11/12/13/14/15% of their max hp, but reduces his attack speed by 50/60/70/80/90/100%


one: Precise Aim
One of the Vindicare Temple's maxims is that a clean kill can only be made from an excellent firing position, and Vindicare Assassins have been known to occupy a position overlooking their target for weeks before finally taking their shot. When active, the Assassin ignores all chances to miss, gains 10/15/20/25% bonus damage, and has a 10/15/20/25% chance to cripple his target, slowing by 25%, but loses 50% movement speed.

two: Infiltration
Vindicare Assassins are experts at infiltrating into enemy territory, where they can pin down squads with sniper fire from behind their own lines. When active, the Assassin becomes invisible, and has a 10/15/15/20% chance to stun his targets for .9 seconds. Attacking or casting spells reveals the Assassin for 3.75/3/2.25/1.5 seconds. Costs 20/24/28/32 mana per second.

three: Spy Mask
Vindicare Assassins are equiped with state-of-the-art detection and survailance devices, capable of extreme vision under any circumstances. When activated, gives the Assassin full unobstructed vision, and a 200/400/600/800 aoe Truesight.
duration: 6/8/10/12, manacost: 65, cooldown: 25/23/21/19

ult: Vital Shot
A shot to the vital organs, or neccessary body parts guarantees a kill. After 3 seconds of precise aim, the Vindicare Assassin shoots the target in a vital spot, dealing 50% of its current hp in damage. If the target is below 20/25/30% of their max hp, they are left with 1 hp.
manacost: 200, cooldown: 75/70/65. 1800 range.

So I thought up an entire Vindicare Assassin hero before checking the codex and realizing that Vindicare Assassins are something DoW invented based on Ratling squads. So because of this, I present to you a Vindicare Assassin nonetheless, but feel free to change it's name to Ratling, or ignore it completely if need be, since he's going to be hard to balance anyway.

Woohoo! Vindicare Assassins are in the Codex!

This hero would have low stats in general. He has a very slow attack, very little armor, relatively low HP, and his starting int would be low, mainly because the only way for him to be balanced is to be an int hero, and I would have thought he needs mana problems too. On the upside, he has insane attack damage (I'm thinking 100 damage, maybe a tiny bit more, at starting level), and a long range (750).


Innate:
[Description] "One strike is all I need."
Modified with small amounts of organ implants similar to that of the Adeptus Astartes, the Vindicare Assassin is the perfect Sniper. One shot from the Vindicare Assassin's state-of-the-art Exitus Rifle can prove fatal.
[Effect] The Exitus Rifle is a slow, but powerful weapon. It gives 64/73/82/91/100 (or 62/69/76/83/90?) damage per hit, but also reduces attack rate by 75%. The Assassin also has a 2/4/6/8/10% of instant killing a creep, and the same chance of killing a hero who is under 100/200/300/400/500 HP.


First skill: Precise Aim

[Effect] The Assassin sacrifices mobility for perfect accuracy (goes through evade/chance to miss debuffs) and a slight damage boost. The Assassin loses 50% movespeed but gains 10/15/20/25% damage increase. This is a toggle skill (doesn't cost mana to keep in use, since essentially you're just switching firing modes.) with a cooldown (make it something like 20 sec to change between modes to avoid people doing a single strong attack, turning it off to run, then starting again 20 yards down.). Also has a 5/10/15/20% chance to slow on each attack.

Second Skill: Assassination Scope
[Description]
[Effect] The Vindicare Assassin stops to install a scope on his Exitus Rifle, drastically increasing his attack range. Increases attack range by either 100/200/300/400 or 200/300/400/500. Lasts 15 seconds, and is an active skill. Has a 2-5 second channeling time for the Assassin to set up the scope.

Second Skill: Spy Mask
[Description]
[Effect] Passive sight vision increase of w/x/y/z. When activated, is an active skill permitting the Vindicare Assassin to see his full sight range regardless of conditions (night vision) or obstacles (hills or trees).



Third Skill: Infiltration
[Description]
[Effect] Yes, I just gave him an invis... It's a toggle that eats away at mana and reveals you for 3.5/3/2.5/2 seconds every time you attack (unless you're out of LoS of course). Also, keep in mind there is a true-sight item (Which I think should become a requirement to the Iron Halo item, and that Iron Halo should give true sight as a result, but that's neither here nor there...). Has cooldown as well. Attacks out of Infiltration have a 5/10/15/20% chance of 'breaking morale' and stunning the target for 1/2/3/4 seconds.

Ultimate: Long Range Scanner
[Description] Requiring a spotter, the Vindicare Assassin calls to Field Command to do a Scanner Sweep of a target area. Once the target(s) have been revealed, the Assassin delivers the killing blows.
[Effect] Reveals a rather small AoE. Upon gaining vision of this area, the Assassin delivers a few quick shots (based on his regular attack damage, just fires them back to back, rather than suffering from his slow attack speed) to all enemy heroes in the area. Delivers 2/4/6 shots (Keep in mind this is an ultimate using his normal attack, so this is not spell damage). Rather long cooldown, and if possible, I'd like the skill's range to be based on whatever his attack range is at that moment. If that's not possible, then just make it equal to or a bit farther than his normal attack range.


Ulti: Aim Vitals
[Description]
[Effect]The Vindicare Assassin aims for his opponent's vitals. If they are above 20/25/30% HP, their current HP is halved. If they are under 20/25/30% HP, they go down to 1 HP.
Has a 3 second casting time.
1200 range. Long CD.




Also, before you tell me this hero is OPed (which he might be, actually...), keep in mind that unlike Path, he is not quite so mobile. Also, his attack speed would be very slow compared to other heroes (Hence why I don't want him agi based), and he is very frail. Also, when he has Assassination Scope active, he will be out of range to receive exp bonus for what creeps and other players kill, so gaining exp with him will be harder as well.


Anyway, hope you like it, and looking forward to hearing all your thoughts and feedback. Also, I have 2 more heroes I'm still planning out that should pop up in the near future.

actually, before i read this, there is a vindicare assasin unit... there in the inquisition dex, not the guard dex... im against having a ratling hero... cause well, ratlings are lame... but it could easily be an eldar pathfinder... (which seem much more hero-like than ratlings) i'd suggest looking at both the vindicare and pathfinder unit entries.

ok, now for the hero...
10% is too high to kill creeps, but that can be changed.
i like the first skill and the third skill.
assassin scope isnt codable... attack range increases are done through upgrades... and upgrades cant be un upgraded.

now for the ult, i find it gimpy in practice... its a long ranged scanner, but your proposing for it tobe as long as his attack range. so he woudlnt be able to fire from a range to pick off fleeing heroes, and he would bearly be able to sit in the back of a battle and deal some extra damage. it definatly works for the hero, but i forsee it not being as poweful as u'd imagine... but then again it could be better than i think it is. how long is his range supposed to be btw? i was thinkin ~700 base or something. and basically its an aoe 2/4/6x crit.

Ah... I just looked in the Guard dex and thought that DoW invented him. Awesome! I'll go look through that and change the 2nd skill when I get the time.

Actually, the reason I said attack range was because I saw it used in conjunction with his 2nd skill. Considering how that skill won't work, then yeah, I guess it needs a range increase.

I'll look for something else though. I was running out of ideas, and since I hadn't found him in the codexes, I figured I'd do something with giving him a spotter, but actually make it worth being an ulti.



EDIT:

By the way, on the ulti, that would have been 2/4/6 total, not per target, and all affected by armor of course.

Anyway, do you think Shield-Breaker (reduces armor) or Spy Mask (Passive vision increase. When activated his vision becomes unobstructed by obstacles such as trees and hills for 10 sec?) would make a good second skill? I personally like the Spy Mask idea, since it goes with his theme, and keeps with the theme in the codex of making cover less important.

I don't really have another idea for an ult yet...



Also, for the 10% chance to kill creeps, yes, it's a bit high, but keeping in mind that he has a very slow attack speed, I assume he would have trouble getting the last hit on creeps and as such hard time getting money, which this would offset. On top of that, it would take at least 10 levels to get the innate to level 5, probably more because his other skills are definitely worth getting. By the time he gets to a 10% chance, heroes are killing creeps pretty easily anyway.

kk, point taken... and use spy mask, give him a 750 starting range, cause he no longer gets to use his range increase...
and oh, well then the ult just becomes useless if its just 2/4/6 total XD
cause in perspective, shooting one person twice, is like a 2x crit, if its split among the heros in the aoe, then its def not worth it.
and u say ur thinking of a new ulty anyway.

If not, he's going to need a truly insane int/level gain.

eh, give it a high starting damge (most start with 60 ish, give him 70-75 ish) and like 2.8 int... 137 dmg at levl 25... which is prolly the highest in the game

or alternitavly, make his stats level properly, but make his innate reduce ias and give bonus damage

Ehhh... I like his innate, personally, and feel it fits his theme, so I'd say do the former.
He's described as being fairly frail, but deadly, patient, and good at evading his enemies anyway, so the high int/high dmg idea is probably more fitting. This will force him to stay away from his opponents at all times, and utilize cover to his advantage (especially since he can see through it, and the ulti I will siggest in this post fits that theme too.).


An Ulti idea:

Reveal the entire map (either to just him or to his team) for x amount of time with X cooldown.

If you want a more combat oriented ulti, I have another, but I personally don't think it fits his style as well...

Ummm... this could make things harder... I actually do have another, better idea for an ulti, but it won't really solve the problem much:

Thing is, based on the codex, his skills fit better than any targeted active skills. The only one the codex really permits are Shieldbreaker and turbo-penetrator, which don't fit his theme at all, or hellfire, which I have no idea what that is due to a very vague description.

Of course, Celestine/Autarch/Anything with a jump move might be a problem for him, especially if Iron Halo would then give true sight.

But he seems like a good hero, especially against that rigged #!@!$, Typhus. Very Happy

I just suggested we should implement Auspex into some sort of recipe, since it is very expensive for what it is, and I figured it fit into Iron Halo's theme. That being said, I don't think it will happen Razz


And yeah, jumping heroes will be a problem, but I like having hero counters.

umm, iron halo is an item that gives a 4+ invulnerable save, and auspex is an item that allows the squad to shoot at infiltraters... i dont see how they are at all related Razz sry but it prolly wont happen

Hehe okay. I just want it in a recipe somewhere, but can't find a good one to put it in. Since I believe Iron Halo permitted seeing infiltrators in DoW, I kind of threw it in there XD


Also, thinking about it... should his ulti maybe do a tiny bit less than half of current HP, since while that seems fine on it's own, if strong, I just realized it means instant death when combined with Mad Doc's ult.

hmmm 50% * 1.6... itll deal close to 75% of their current hp

and really, 50% current isnt that poweful by itself, its how it works with the vindicares other skills that makes it powerful Razz

it might... i thought it was 1/1.3... nvm its 1.3/1.6/2... well... two times 50% of their life... is.. (on a 1k hp hero) 375 damage ignored, then 750 damage dealt back, then 562.5 damage after resistance... which is 56.25% of current life in pure damage, if u mix the two ults
