Abbadon The Despoiler

Post by ZebioLizard on Fri Dec 11, 2009 9:50 pm

Abbadon the Despoiler

Lore: Look it up. http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Abaddon It's LONG!

Innate: WarMaster of the Chaos Gods:

By the blessing of the chaos gods, and the many deals with daemons, he can take upon an aspect of each god as his own, as the warmaster of the Traitor Legions, his deals with the gods allow them to enhance him beyond the aspect of ANY MORTAL! He can however, only pray to one god at once, as he is not as blessed as Horus, Unable to take all the gods at once.

Effect: Able to use Khorne's Rage, Nurgle's Blessing, Slaanesh's Desire, and Tzeentch's Mutation. (each levelup increases the blessing)

Khorne's rage
: Enhances Abbadons strength in battle, The more he deals damage to the enemy, and gets hurt, his strength stat increases.

Nurgles Blessing: The plague enters into his body, making him hardened and feeling less pain to the enemy, grants a damage/magic reduction and bonus hp when used

Slaanesh's Desire: This will grant him the power under Slaanesh, enhancing his speed each time within battle, his senses growing strong as well due to the pleasure of such things (Bonus to sight range, attack speed, and movement speed)

Tzeentch's Mutation: This grants the mutations of Tzeentch, granting an immediate bonus to mana amount/mana regen, and inbattle if he is struck, summons tentacles from his body to deal damage back to the enemy (Deals damage upon being struck, a set amount)

Effect:
Skill 1: Drach'nyen:

The mighty daemon weapon draws its prodigious power from the bound essence of a writhing warp entity that can rend reality apart, named Drach'nyen. The Warmaster uses this weapon as a symbol of his authority, and with it has led his infamous Black Crusades, as well as using it to effect in battle.

Effect: Grants a % effect to deal a large amount of damage to nearby units, cleaving them from their positions as the warp rips them around in a wild frenzy. After level 3, basic units are automatically killed when this effect procs. At level 4, will leave a DoT on enemy heros that at times, teleports them around randomly.

Skill 2: Planet Killer:
The origins of the massive stellar vessel known simply as the Planet Killer are a mystery to Naval authorities. It bears no resemblance to any Imperial ship design and is assumed to have been constructed within the Eye of Terror by Abaddon’s forces, just prior to the Gothic War – in fact several of the Adeptus Mechanicus doubt whether its construction would have been physically possible outside of warp space. Built around a central energy cannon of immeasurable magnitude, the Planet Killer is also studded with numerous long range lances, weapons batteries and torpedo launchers.

Effect: At a targeted location, large amounts of missles, lasers, and a big freakin laser begin striking very randomly in a very large radius around the area, dealing damage to both allies and enemies caught within the large power of the Planet killer. Each blast from the planet killer is within it’s own location. Meaning it may never strike a lucky enemy at all. Missles cause stun to those caught, lasers just deal damage.

Skill 3: Talon of Horus:
The weapon takes the form of a large silver lighting claw with thumb blade and integral storm bolter that runs from the wrist to knuckles of the gauntlet. The ancient bolter fires to the same effect as a modern storm bolter. Two belts of ammunition are fed into the weapon from the right side and howling faces of daemons cover the casing ejectors.

Effects: (Activated) Fires a sharp burst of bolter ammo at a target, dealing damage to the enemy, if the the enemy is next to Abbadon, he will pierce him sharply with the Lightning claws, hold him inplace, and fill him with bolter ammo. (Holds if enemy is nearby)

Ultimate: The Black Crusade (Black looks horrible in this format)
A Black Crusade is an incursion that is formed when the disparate forces of Chaos unite under a particularly strong Chaos Champion and go forth en masse to wage war against the Imperium of Man.
When the crusade is launched, whole worlds fall prey to the rampaging hordes and the Dark Gods themselves divert their attention to the material realm, delighting in the sacrifices made in their names. Still, the nature of Chaos is fickle and unless it is repelled by the defenders, the crusade is bound to splinter into separate hosts and warbands who pursue their own ambitions.

Effect: When used, Abbadon changes the main fortress of a team into a Blackstone fortress, this Fortress will spawn Black Legion Marines down each lane at intervals (based on level of fortress) This is a list of what will be spawned down each lane. After exhausting it's amount, it will go back to a normal fortress.

Level 1: Black Legion Marines (can just be shooters, or anysort, from marines to meltagun users, these are much stronger then each teams basic units)

Level 2: Black Legion Predators

Level 3: Marines are upgraded to Terminator armor, and Obliterators travel down the lanes now.

Good idea, and Im happy to see you took one of my suggestions Smile although wouldnt it be smart to spawn some type of daemon for his ult? (technically speaking obliderators arent daemons, they are just infected with the obliderator virus.)

Skills look great, although you might want to tone down some of them, its possible that this hero could be toned UP for primarches mode if it ends up getting developed.

Obliterators are badass, and while greater daemons are good, it's just not very black legiony (That, and obliterators don't stand a chance of getting a hero, no matter how much I desire it)

Mainly cause the greater daemons are more along the lines of heros, then creeps. The crusade is more along the lines of the black legion warbands joining together to rape the imperium. (Although I may add abilities to obliterators in a bit, like representing their aresenal of RAPAGE weapons)

What do you mean tone down though? I didn't post stats for the exact reason I wouldn't be able to think of anyway of making them not rape. xD

Dont you think there could be a different skill for 'Planet Killer'?

What else could there be? It's a spaceship that fires huge beams, craploads of rockets, and even destroys his own fleet when he's pissed. What else could it do?

Just so you know, basic skills only have 4 levels.

I really like the ult idea.

Also, the innate looks cool, but I'm unsure of exactly how it would work. Would it pick a random bonus every time it's used? Do you pick one god when you first pick the hero and that's the skill that gets leveled/used?

Planet killer will probably need low-ish damage/stun. Right now it kind of looks like an ult, though it could work as is with a fairly high CD, since it does affect allies (The problem being this would be a great way to deny and kill enemies in team battle situations.).

Mistyped sorry, it should've been 4, not 5

The innate is basically a spellbook type thing, when you click it, you can choose the blessing most likely to benefit you at the moment. Although to represent the fact he isn't as godly as horus it could be when you first choose the hero.

The problem though with planet killer is that it has a huge range and varied missings, and if neccessary, only the big laser could have a big aoe, since each one might have low range aoe's. when they hit around. Mainly used as a suppression device. (Of course it could be replaced if grasshopper really wants it to)

depends how large the aoe of the skill is, and how large the aoe of each individual weapon is.
im assuming hes melee Razz

and skill one is a % on attack right? Razz the damage is prolly way to much (gogo 550 damage aoe proc chance at level 3). it deals damage and randomly knocks units back right?

talons are boring! but oh well XD

Yes he's melee, and yes to the first part.

No, it doesn't deal that much, there's a basic effect that instant kills units (It's the goblin alchemsits ultimate) It randomly teleports them around, think rather like the warpheads ability, as the sword itself is rending reality to screw with the enemy. But yes, thats the basic part of the ability. Couldn't make it like it is in tabletop, where it can instant kill ANYTHING. From friggen baneblades in one hit, to freakin heros. So I think instant killing basic units (not vechicals) is close enough.

talons are boring! but oh well XD

It's a storm bolter strapped onto lightning claws. I did my best to make them unique but it's to simple~! (hehe, more damage if in melee range, claws strike first, dealing damage, then fires the bolter into the enemy)

Since you don't seem to argue against my ult, you like? cheers

I love praise to my suggestions. I love trying to make unique up skills for people. I just love making heros king

I like the ult, but I don't like the use of "Blackstone Fortress" for a name.. They were originally Eldar weapons and didn't have anything to do with deploying troops.. They were nothing but giant mobile Warpcannons designed to fight the Necrons.. Could use "Warp Gate" or something like that.

Re: Abbadon The Despoiler

Abaddon used two Blackstone Fortresses against the Imperium. One of these was used to attack the world of Cadia, obliterating Cadians and Chaos troops on the surface indiscriminately. The Blackstone Fortress was attacked by Eldar and Imperial
battlefleets, but both took huge losses from the Chaos fleet guarding
the structure. Eldrad Ulthran boarded the Fortress, and attempted to remove the taint of Chaos, and
turn the Fortress back to Eldar control, but failed, and is believed to have been consumed by Slaanesh, After this, the Fortress stopped attacking Cadia and concentrated on its own defence.

Depends, do you want to give the blackstone fortress a mapwide ability to attack the enemy? Razz Like the old artillary? (But in control by abbadons player)

Thanks for proving my point about being giant cannons, not troop carriers. And I didn't want to give them anything, thus why I suggested the removal of the name from the skill, and replace it with "Warp Gate" or something of that sort..

You know to board something, there has to indeed be something to board. And to guard it, would need large amounts of guards..

They weren't called Fortressess Because they could JUST fire a cannon and be done with it. Otherwise they'd generally be called CANNONS, such as WARP CANNONS. The warp cannon was just a part of the main infrastructure.

The Fortresses were dormant, easily boarded and occupied. Although
unactivated, there was enough residual power in their power grids to
allow the humans to live in them and turn them into powerful spaceborne
hardpoints that were central to the fortifications in the systems they
occupied.

Re: Abbadon The Despoiler

Post by DeusMechanicus on Sat Dec 12, 2009 5:25 pm

Did I ever dispute it was a "Ship"? It was constructed by the Eldar (or Vaul, depending on how you look at it), it didn't just spring into creation out of nothingness- of course there are spaces for humanoids to move around inside of it. But, like most Eldar creations, it had an 'Infinity Circuit' of Eldar souls to power it, thus giving it an undefined extent of autonomy (it 'came to life', so to speak), in the hands of Chaos (the Blackstone Fortresses work by channeling Warp energy directly into real-space), it would have become corrupt and malevolent. A mass of Chaos energies, such that would have existed inside the Blackstone Fortresses upon reactivation, could kill far more efficiently than any bolter. Eldrad touched a spiritstone inside the Blackstone Fortress and was trapped by Slaanesh, not by any forces repelling his boarding action. I've never read anything concerning Abbadon placing troops on the Blackstone Fortresses (other than daemons that would have poured through during its firing, and Slaanesh's essence), since he could control them from a distance with the artifacts given to him by the Deceiver. Anyway, using a Blackstone Fortress as a spawn point would be like using a Emperor-class as a spawn point. Did they have people on them? Of course. Did they deploy them into battle? No. They were support personell and / or guards. The Eldar never planned on using them against Necron boarding teams, they were built solely to destroy the C'tan in one massive burst of Warp energy (though they were constructed after the C'tan went dormant, so even how the C'tan would react is a theory).

Because Blackstone Fortresses weren't troop carriers.. They were fortresses built around giant cannons.. Did the Death Star (whoo!, Star Wars reference) invade planets? (Question is rhetorical, it did not).

It's doubtful, the Imperials used it as a hardpoint to mount weapons on and to dock fighters in. There's no evidence Abbadon used it for anything more than it's designed purpose (other than choosing new targets).

After the chat, do you think its viable now?

The spawns come from warp portals rather then the fortress itself.

Now quick question, because there is one thing about all this that bugs me:

The ult is more about the crusade than the fortress right?

Keeping that in mind along with the fact Planet Killer is a very ult-like move, why don't we just switch that to his ult and Black crusade as a passive skill that spawns one extra unit with the main wave for each lane which upgrades with each level in the skill.

Now while that sounds OP, I'm thinking the first level being a weak cultist, second a Chaos Space Marine, something else, then Obliterators.
These would give 50/75/100/125 gold each when killed, and give experience slightly higher than grots/slightly higher than normal creeps/slightly lower than dreads/slightly higher than dreads, or something like that.

I only really thought of stats for Obliterators. Maybe give them a slow, but strong piercing attack doing 60-ish, and a slow siege attack doing 30-40?

Planet Killer, would, in turn, do a whole lot more damage.

Don't you have a lot of spunk for a greenhorn? xD Not that that is bad, but to us who have been here longer, it's really extremely hard to get something past grass which he disagrees with. And I have a notion why.

When you add units that are much stronger than normal units constantly to a wave, you create an unstoppable force, provided there's a hero to soak up some of the fire. In addition, aren't predators really strong for vehicles? And they're being constantly spawned for a duration?

Also, your innate's ridiculous. I know he's Abbadon, but he's a total game-breaker as he is right now.

The stance I feel on him is you either should tone him down a lot or leave him for primarch mode, because he's one of those very special characters that is like a joker in the deck: you only draw him once in a lifetime and the devastation he causes is more than anyone expects.
