Dev Tools/walkthrough

I know i have been away from the forum for quite some time. But i got on just the other day and noticed some one looking to get started in helping dev. I have not been much of an asset but i did learn a lot and it can be a starting place for those interested. I will start with the basics and that is learning the terms and what they control.

This is one of the clearest to understand

And here is another. They will have overlap but answer question in different ways. For most of this there are multiple ways of doing it all. This is where the tools you have plays out, more really if they limit you or not.

I used all free tools.
My tools are
Gmax For the base editor.
To get this to work with war3 files check here.


Irfan View For making of changing meshes.

There are some other files required, such as the import/export script for Gmax but this is the starting line for anyone looking to try it out. I understand how most of it works but still fight with getting it to do what i want. I will plan to revise or add on to this. It is easy for me to over look something in this process since i went through it already. If you have questions or see things i have missed feel free to ask or let me know I will get back to you.
