Grants a 5/6/7/8/9/10 Strength Bonus,and a 5/6/7/8/9/10% Physical Damage Reduction
Commander of the 9th Penal Legion (Active, Damage Over Time, In an Aoe)
"The individual lives of his soldiers matter little to him, sending waves endlessly at the enemy until either he is dead, or his troops run out. Usually the result is the former."
Creates Lines of Penal Troopers, who charge through an area, colliding with enemies and stabbing them before themselves dying. Each soldier deals damage equal to .5 of Schaffer's Strength as it was at the time of casting. the charging troopers last for 5/6/7/8 Seconds. 150 Manacost, 30 Second Cool Down
Their Sacrifice was not in Vain! (
"So fanatical in his devotion to his cause, that the death of the men around him spurs not only him on, but his surviving troops as well, fueled by his rhetoric"
Whenever a allied unit dies in an 400 Aoe around the Colonel, Schaffer takes advantage of the one who landed the killing blow, attacking it. Plasma Shot ( Targeted Nuke )
"One key sight on the battle field among the last chancers is the sight of the Colonel trading blows with his powerblade, and sending hissing bolts of plasma out of his pistol to deal with targets out of reach of his fearsome blade. Caution is advised for most users of any plasma weapon however, for they tend to overheat... Causing damage to the user."
After a 1 Second casting time, Shoots a fearsome bolt of plasma out to impact on the target, dealing 100/200/300/400 Damage. The spell has a 33% Chance of doing the same damage to himself on the cast. 100/110/120/130 Manacost, 15 Second Cooldown
Forced Conscription, Trial and Error. (Passive Attribute Steal)
"One of Schaffer's favorite tactics is to force his conscripts into suicidal situations. Each soldier comes out of the circumstances learning something, Even Schaffer."
Passively steals 1 Attribute Point from the primary attribute of an enemy hero that dies near schaffer. The triggers increase per level.
Level 1: Hero that he lands the killing blow on, spell or attack wise.
Level 2: Hero that dies within 100 Aoe of him, or a killing blow
Level 3: Hero that dies within 200 Aoe of him, or a killing blow

No...Legion is only troops for flavor purposes... Its to show how utterly worthless the individual lives of his troopers are.
Do you think i should link them?

I like this hero, except for two issues, the second skill will basically have him teleport like a speedy harliquin, and he'll have no control..and the ult seems a bit much.

gah!! i blame my english teacher for this one.. buttt...
"So fanatical in his devotion to his cause, that the death of the men around him spurs not only him on, but his surviving troops as well, fueled by his rhetoric"
Rhetoric = Having to do with language
(dictionary deffinition: the art or science of all specialized literary uses of language in prose or verse, including the figures of speech.)
anywho, x% physical damage reduction = armor. just btw.
overall, he seems really jumbled.
the ult is really powerful, i guess... but it doesnt seem to fit with the hero (he has nothing that specifically concerns stats) and he doesnt even seem to fit a role that would really require it.

Well, Its a good starting point for me... Im going to try and specify it. Ok, Should the thing that summons the lines of troops actually make real guys to trigger the other ability?

Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
EWW. IMPERIAL GUARD =!= SUMMON WHORES
I know you'll say they command regiments and generally have lots of guardsmen. But we're making individual heroes, not the entire Imperial Guard army. That's why I'm starting not to like Imps. as they're being made now, because there are too many effing summons, which then push.
innate's a little dry. Already talked about summons.
For the revenge attack, what happens if Tomb Spyder comes him and converts your entire force? Do you attack him like 10 times?
For the ult, how does a propensity to learn allow him to take points away? If anything, he could gain points, but that's a lame ult then. You'll gain at most 10-15 points, spread across the three areas. >>
Just a few comments.

Well, Allright. Then ill leave it being an AOE hit. Then ill shift the ult to something suitably Schaffery.
Perhaps a suicide move? Hes more then willing to do it, maybe a suicide to deal massive damage over an AOE, that was in one of the books... Would that work?

Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
Ok... Well, what about this for an ult:
Stress of Battle:
"The number of penal legion troopers who can survive for any period of time without either going crazy or dying is roughly.... .000001%"
Whenever a unit dies while within 500/600/700 Aoe of Schaffer, all allied units within the aoe have an 10/20/30% Chance to either (loose .5x Their Armor, but gain 20% Attack Speed and 5% Move Speed), Or (loose 25% of their Attack damage, but gain 50% Bonus Armor). The buffs can stack 2/3/4 Times, and fade in 5 Seconds after gaining.

Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
He suggested changing it to an actual summon, so I put my foot down? xD
Stress of battle seems like a good normal skill, although it can be counterintuitive since you can gain then lose armor/attack. Reliability is a concern.

He suggested it make real troop corpses so that it activate his other ability, also. IT'S ****ING IMPERIAL GUARD, if it isn't relating to tanks, its relating to PEW PEW LARGE ARMY SIZES.

Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
You do realize the mess we've already been through with Commie? Do you really want 11 more heroes like that, being able to push at whim?
And Schaffer's not the flash. xD He can't teleport randomly to attack 12 times if something AoE's his creeps/troops.

Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
Considering that it takes grass forever to balance some heroes, he just needs to learn theres such things as limits
(And dont forget the avatar, STILL, NOT, BALANCED) afterall this.

Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
have you checked the post in dev? the ult got nerfed, the stacking on the innate was removed, and the active heal aura thing got nerfed
Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
If it hasn't been put into circulation and is the current ver being played, it doesn't really count as actually done now does it, as it is still very very powerful in the Current ver.

yes, well... at least hes being fixed
he wasnt changed much last version iirc
he wasnt changed much last version iirc
Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
Ok... Well @Glycine, its not supposed to be reliable, its supposed to be the men and him going nuts with all the stress all of them are under. But aside from that, i allmost like the Stampede style thing better. And second, for the counter attacker thing, i could also establish a cool down on it's trigger, would that make it better?

Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
Not to sound mean or anything...
But there's a slight difference between reliability of the characters and reliability of the skill. Some heroes simply aren't very reliable, Warphead being the most notable.
If the skill, however, isn't very reliable, then it'll fall out of use. Imagine trying to stun someone with a nuke and it not working. Or trying to blink far away and blinking backwards into an outpost. It's that kind of reliability.
Plus, teleporting when units are killed could get you into some serious trouble with ranged characters. Say Pathfinder railguns a creep from the outposts and you teleport to him. It could very well backfire.

Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
Well, im going to install a cool down onto the teleport ability, and the teleport is going to have a range, and its going to be made to be highly limited

Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
Eehhhh.... Idk about this guy, to be perfectly and horrifically honest... I just don't like it. I think he'd end up being the fat kid. No one would pick him, or, at least, he'd not get picked a second time by the same person. His skills really lack and flavor, he doesn't seem to stand out much in any respect other than hopefully whacking some dude with his secondary skill after it kills someone else, which, seems like it could really cause problems for him as it is. Idk...

Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
Well... Heres what ill do. How about, he launches a plasma bolt at the enemy who takes a killing blow?
Then he doesnt move/teleport, and since it only triggers on an attack, it balanced it self also with the Plasma Pistol's Drawback.

Re: Colonel Schaffer, Commander of the 9th Penal Legion, Aka 'The Last Chancers'
Actually it does. Whenever in the books Schaffer is fighting with his men, hed step back, watch how an alien/heretic attacked, then would use that as an opportunity to learn how the enemy functioned, or an opportunity to attack.
