Re: Dark Heresy
NERD ALERT
I already play DnD, every other Saturday.
Anyway, yeah... Deathwatch (Space Marines in general) are just too OP to play. That's why I say we go with Dark Heresy or Rogue Trader, or a combo of the two (Inquisitorial edict demands the Rogue Trader and crew serve the Inquisition!) And I already offered to GM, if no one else wants it (I'd also like to play, so either way is cool with me). I've never ran a Wh40k campaign, but I've been DM for a few DnD games. Different rules, but still just storytelling.
EDIT: And I know nothing of Warhammer Fantasy ... so that'd be a huge learning curve for me.

Imagine Medieval Europe
Imagining it? Okay, now add 40k's bleakness.
Still not there. Add steampunk + elves + dwarves + various fantasy races.
Now take it all together and you have basically what is fucked up Europe during what is known as the dark ages (or in some circles, the Shit ages)
Deathwatch sounds fun though, although it sounds like alot of the scenarios are bleak bleak (As in holding off an infinite necron horde till everyone's evacuated!?) OP'ed can be fun sometimes though, if done well. Espically since lorewise, deathwatch aren't called in to spearhead or nothing, they are called when SHIT HAS BLOWN A GAPING HOLE THROUGH THE FAN AND THE STEEL WALL BEHIND IT Along with the poor little dog and a few small children.
Ooh. I just recently played something like that. Its called Space Rogues. Pretty fun stuff.
Since I'm not sure if you're being to serious or not. We are not referring to a warcraft 3 map, rather to a tabletop based version of 40k based around rulesets somewhat like DND

Re: Dark Heresy
Yeah.. Deathwatch are called in when the xeno threat is too great even the regular Space Marines won't cut it. They're like the black ops, no one but the Inquisition and the High Lords of Terra know of their missions. If they die, an Apothecary delivers their gene-seed to their chapter with no explanation, just that they died serving the Imperium and should be honored. They're also the ones responsible for the capture / transport of xeno artifacts, which in itself is often more life threatening than an open fight.
"He who allows the alien to live, shares its crime of existence."
The thing about Deathwatch is ... in the rules, damage that would take you from Normal to Critical in Dark Heresy / Rogue Trader, won't even make you flinch in Deathwatch.
But, we could play it (or combine all three), if the majority wants to.

BEHOLD, I HAVE FOUND AND UPLOADED MOST (1 Rogue Trader scenario I couldn't find) OF THE OFFICAL RULES & SCENARIOS THAT ARE RELEASED FOR ALL 3 THINGIES! It holds all the supplement stuff currently released for them. Which means Sisters of Battle in Dark Heresy!
I really hope that torrent works...
Also, if you don't know how to torrent/it doesnt work I get to punch you because thats 1.8gb that I got to upload to something else.

Re: Dark Heresy
Oh, and Zebio. Whoever GM's can create their own scenarios if they want (poor bastards if they do).
As for the playing a mix of them thing, I'd rather it be a comination of Dark Heresy and Deathwatch if we could. Adding Rogue Trader into the mix would kinda seem awkward because I doubt the captain of a ship would actually get off his ship if the mission is something like DIVE HEADFIRST INTO A CHAOS CULT LAIR THAT MIGHT BE SUMMONING DAEMONS! If we do want to play a combined game thing with rogue trader though, I propose it be into two seperate groupings. One being Dark Heresy and Deathwatch with whichever of the two as the main ruleset, and Rogue Trader + the others with Rogue Trader being the main ruleset (having the different careers from Heresy and Space Marines from Death Watch being members of the ship's crew).
<.< But, I suggest we actually play within each games own thing before deciding to mix and match. Like Deus said, having a Deathwatch member in a Dark Heresy game might make the game too easy for him and too hard for the other non Deathwatch players (if you try to throw in stuff that the Deathwatch won't just laugh at).

I just use Demonoid and I get speeds of 200kb/s+. Or you could always dropbox it.

Re: Dark Heresy
<_< You can use that if you want. I don't really plan on DMing since I'm never good at those kinds of things, so I won't need most of that crap. If you want me to use any of the extra stuff not in mine, just tell me. Also, port fowarding kinda helps <.<.

I do think we should stick to one at a time, I don't really think they were to meant to be interchanged mixably.

Re: Dark Heresy
Well, of course they aren't. The thing is about any of these rpg's is that GM's are free to make their own house rules while using the core rules as a basis. A D&D example was a GM allowing a player to play as a Minotaur. The other players used magic and items that made it grow to enormous sizes which gives it ridiculous saves and such, also giving it plate armor and attaching huge buckets to its back. They then rode around in said buckets as the Minotaur hilariously smashed through everything.

So Dark Heresy sounds like the best choice for our first game?

Re: Dark Heresy
Well, it is the one that has the most stuff on it, so it would be good to do it so we have prewritten scenarios for when our characters get higher levels if the GM doesn't have their own.

Re: Dark Heresy
All of them have prewritten scenario's lol. Although it's prolly the best starting point, being on the bottem of the totem pole as a Junior inquisitor

Re: Dark Heresy
Does Dark Heresy provide rules for becoming an Inquisitor? I thought the PCs were an Inquisitor's acolytes.
Anyway, I have a long story arc in mind if I GM (Muwahahaha! Ordo Malleus, btw). I'll probably use some of the preprinted scenarios to get the feel for it first though.

Re: Dark Heresy
There's a file in that torrent I posted ... "Dark Heresy - Character Creation.exe" that's awesome. If you don't download the whole thing, atleast download that. Makes creating a character a LOT easier. You'll probably have to reference the book for what some of the traits do, but other than that, it provides you with optional starting packages, automatically tells you the traits for Homeworlds / Occupations, et cetera.

Re: Dark Heresy
<_< So are we going to start out using the supplement stuff (Inquisitor's Handbook and stuff) or go just on the core rulebook? Cause i'm kinda getting bogged down on having to learn the newer stuff along with the core rulebooks stuff.

Re: Dark Heresy
Pretty much the only books the player needs is the core rulebook, Inquisitor's Handbook, and maybe Radical's Handbook (depending on what the GM decides to allow / forbid).
And Ascension / Heed the Higher Call if we play long enough for the PCs to become Inquisitors.

Re: Dark Heresy
I say just Core booklet for now, I doubt we'll last long enough on our first tries to survive to ascension
