Restart for SC2!

Hey all!

So apparently we aren't all dead.
And we want to keep this going.

So, from the large and long discussion last night, we've decided we want to port this to SC2. (most of us have it, or will get it. Plus arcade games are free to play).
We are going to rebuild this from the ground up, rebuilding and rethinking everything.

We came up with two (they look almost identical, but w/e) google docs last night with some discussions about things we need to think about.

And I'm going to start a section here on what needs to be done.




MAP DESIGN

  1. Map Layout
    -> tilset / type of terrain: CITY TERRAIN. BASES ON OUTSKIRTS IN FOREST
  2. Lane Layout
    -> number of lanes: NO LANES. 4 OUTPOSTS AND 6 PIONTS OF INTEREST SCATTERED THROUGHOUT MAP. CREEPS PATH TO THOSE RANDOMLY
    -----> I believe the current idea is that there is no lane system, and creeps kind of spread out and attack the enemy base from all over (if everyone has played starbattle?
    -> lane layout / path:
  3. Base layout
    ->what the main buildings are: MAIN BUILDING, INNER DEFENSES, RING OF TREES, OUTER DEFENSES
    ->what inbetween buildings there are: NONE

hireables, base functions, drop pods, orbital strikes, warmaster options, etc.




OUTPOSTS
There are 4 outposts and 6 points of interest on the map. These points are captured and held by a team and provide resources to the team in the form of requisition and to the heroes in the form of gold and experience.

Each point has 100 hp, and begins the game owned by neither player.
To capture a point, there must be no enemy hunts nearby and at least one allied unit nearby. Each allied creep deals 1 damage per second to outposts and 1.5 damage per second to points of interest. Once a point has 1 hp, it becomes owned by the capturing player (or neither player if it is owned by an enemy). If an enemy is in the process of capturing a point and your team takes over, it must first count back up to full life before being damaged by your team.

In any case, all capturing attempts and bonuses a point provides to the team are lost if there are enemies near the point.


PATHING
When spawned, creeps will randomly decide to attack any of the points or the enemy's base (weighed to the enemy's base and points of interest). Creeps that arrive at a neutral or enemy point will stay there untill it is captured. Then up to 10 creeps will stay at that point and the rest will chose a random *unowned* point to attack next.


WARLORD:
Each team (picks, chosen at random, first player to claim) one warlord who leads the team and can influence the creeps.

This warlord has access to the teams requisition (gained by capturing and holding points) which he can spend on a number of warlord abilities that effect the creeps on the map.
Some thoughts on possible warlord abilities:
Spawn tank
Spawn troops
Order nearby creeps to point
Order all creeps to point
Don't leave 10 creeps behind
Artilary strike
Enemy creeps path to owned posts

questions:

apparently we're doing a city fight themed map (so buildings and concrete and roads etc)
do we want the main bases to be outside the city or inside the city?

-> if they are inside it opens up some posibility for non-city terrain

new thought!!

hero stats:

three stats and two pseudo stats
stats DO NOT INCREASE with level ups. a heroes stats defines his abilities in certain attributes. all attributes scale normally (so hp will go up per level always, strength increase how MUCH hp you get)

toughness = modivies hp/level and regen/level
initiative = modifies ias/level and cooldown times
(myscticism/warp power/intelligence) = modifies mana/level and mana regen /level

the two pseudostats would be:
physical power (effects damage and most physical abilities)
ability power (effects damage and most magic abilities)

question: should some heroes use ability power for their auto attacks?

Couple options.
20 levels
Innate skill (levels as the hero does. Either 5 or 10 levels)
3 normal skills with 6 levels
1 ult with two levels

Hero default attributes without stats
Hp: 450 + 60/lvl (1590 at level 20)
Mp: 150 + 30/lvl (720 at level 20)
Hp regen: 1 + .2/lvl (4.8 at level 20)
Np regen: .3 + .1/lvl (2.2 at level 20)

Attack cool down: 1.7 + 3.5% ias/lvl (70% at lvl21)

Physical power, ability power, armor, resistance, and move speed depend on the hero.
Resistance and move speed aren't likely to increase.

STATS
Stats do not increase with level
They start at one value and affect a heroes leveling.
They can be increased (planned to be expensively) with items or certain skills

There will also be two pseudo stats:
Physical power (1:1 to damage, effects the power of some physical abilities)
Ability power (kinda arbitrary in its effects, but should typically effect abilities usually in the form of extra damage. Starts off very Lowe or 0, and increases very little)

Potential stat effects.
Toughness:
+5% hp (10 tough = 650+90/lvl(2450 at lvl20) )(20 tough = 900 + 120/lvl (3200 at lvl20))
+5% hp regen (10 tough = )(20 tough = )

Intellect:
+10% mp (10 int = 300 + 60/lvl(1500 at lvl 21))(20 int = 450 + 90/lvl (2250 at lvl20) )
+25% mp regen (10 = )(20 = )
2% ability power per point

Initiative:
+.75% cool down reduction. (10 init = 7.5% reduction) (20 init = 15% reduction)
-1% attack time  (10  = 10% (1.53 attack time))(20 = 20% (1.36 attack time)

Objective points scattered throughout map: From 6 to 12

Holding points grants the team resource 'Requisition'

They start neutral, having creeps or heroes near it starts capturing it for your team, if there are any enemies nearby progress stops.

If you control it, and an enemy comes nearby it stops working and they start to remove it from your control until it returns to neutral, then they start capturing it.

If you control it and both you and an enemy is on the point, it becomes 'contested' it no longer produces anything but the enemy isn't able to capture it.

Rather make Hector Rex. I don't think Coteaz would be a Str hero. Rex would be though, guy was a genetically augmented monster of an Inquisitor. Single-handedly bitchslapped a greater daemon.

- Astropath carrying his Emperor's Tarot.
- Exorcist carrying his Grimoire of True Names.
- Acolytes to soak his wounds.
- So on and so forth...

I updated his skills. Still not done yet, but getting there.

I thought it had summons other than the Guardsmen.

Anyway, I want to replace Rex's summon with something, but I can't figure out what.

We have an issue before we go too far with heroes.

How many levels of each spell and max hero levels do we want?
At lvl20 heroes... We get 15 or 18 levels of normal skills, and 5 or 2 levels of ult.
So we can do 5 level normal skills and 3 level ultimate for 18 max hero level (6level innates every 3 levels or 9 level innate or 3 level innate)
Or we can do 6 level normal skills and 3 level ultimate for 21 max hero level (7level innates every 3 levels or 3 level innates every 7 levels...)
Or 6 level skills and 2 level Ults for 20 max hero level. (4, 5 or 10 level innates.)


Please please please give a choice or an answer.

I think a 6/6/6/3 with innate level ups every 3 levels works. Having the innate upgrade relatively frequently adds to the sense of progression, and allows the innate to mean something at all points of the game.

That said, can we do anything with the 2 points left over from a 5/5/5/3 with a level 20 cap?

Upgrade the innate early?
So the innate levels naturally from 1-18, and then the two extra levels are "upgrade innate"
So you could speed up the innate levelling early if you so desire
So 8 levels of innate.
Increasing every 3 levels. And twice more are upgraded by the player.
Does that make sense? I'm very tired
