game modes

so some things in certain threads got me thinking, post any general game modes that u have in mind, or discuss some already suggested modes

some thoughts:

-allrandom (duhh)
-races mode (pick one race per team, could switch up the spawns.)
-territory mode (capture critical locations)
-heroes mode (no creeps)

Races mode does seem pretty awesome (as do the others for that matter.).

We definitely need an all random mode, but I think before we do that we should make sure none of the heroes are gimped.

A races mode would be a great addition. The only problem I can see with this is the 4mb file limit for custom models. We could have a downloadable patch that would override the standard models though.

I would really like to see a -territory mode implemented. Maybe you could make it so the captured points spawn units and possibly give some other benefits to the owning team.
Making it similar to the dawn of war system would probably work well. Something like this could really set the map apart from all the other aos maps out there and make the game a lot more fun.

If you do a heroes mode, I'd disable a lot of the map (make it non accessible) and create an arena via custom script.


I thought of a cooperative defense game mode but I reconsidered it, and that would probably have to be done with another map all together.

-edit Thought of some. What about a game mode that makes it 4vs4vs4? The map would have to be heavily modified a lot with custom script for this, though.
Since WH40k has so many races something like this could be very fun.

-super creeps (Some very powerful warhammer 40k units would spawn randomly for each team but not just 1 every few minutes like in dota; that's too boring for Warhammer 40k)

and yeah the map size limit is going up to 8mb the next patch so its ok XD

-terrirtories could give extra gold per second to the team who owns them. large vision radious, and maby increase the udg_CreepSawnCount by 1 or 0.5?

-heroes mode i would only implement AFTER i make the jungle creeps respawn XD

-a 3 team mode would be hard for me to do, cause i would have NO idea how to rearange the map...

edit: oh and for the making sure no heros are gimped for all random... the only heros i consider 'gimped' are... the avatar, and maby typhus and the necron lord

4mb to 8mb OMG, are you serious? Where did you find this out? That will be like a whole new wc3.

I wouldn't mind coding the 3 team game mode after I'm finished with this balance system. But I don't think it would be worth the trouble unless a lot of other players wanted it.

When would this new patch come out?
I'm surprised Blizzard still patches this game when they have the WoW cash cow funding them and all their great-great-great-great grandchildren forever. Hell, even the janitors there must drive Mercedes now.

lmao, they gota release a new patch cause people found a way to code viruses into wc3 maps using a jass bug. and while there at it they are "working with the devs of top wc3 custom maps" (ie: icefrog and dota) to make sure everything works out... and increasing the file size limit

i found it out on the dota forums, and i think theres an officail blizz statement somewhere... but yeah its gona help alot.

and dont forget an auto auto-balance feature Very Happy
