Hmm, based the asskicking keeper gave me, I can't really say too much about Lord of Change.

I can say a few things about Firestorm, though.

It does both what you and I said about it. Sometimes, if a unit is caught, it'll take all the ticks even as they run away. Other times, if they run straight through it, they don't take as many ticks.

I think it depends on whether the unit is standing still when firestorm is cast. If it's cast and they then move out of the way, it does the full damage. If, however, they are moving when firestorm is cast, they can avoid some of the ticks.

quick update: i watched some of the replay, i noticed that the aoe is much larger than i thought it was, but they cans till run out of it.
i have my theory that the ground dot aoe is bugged and wont change,... so im gona test something with firestorm, and see if im right
edit: nvm... the original fierstorm aoe was actually smaller than what i have it as... awesome

edit2: ok, so i made the aoe tiny (50 aoe) and casted it on a standing fex, it walked out of the aoe and stoped taking damage.
also, someone from TheHelper.net posted this in a flamestrike question thread...
Duration - Hero: The duration for the 'major' damage.
Duration - Normal: The duration for the 'minor' damage.

Units will take the 'buff' for 'minor' damage only when they are walking/standing on the fire.
the important part being the 'units take minor damage only when standing on the fire

Hmm. In that case, I can conclude something.

In some cases, a large part of the damage is impact damage, as in damage caused from the first instant of the cast, while a minimum is residual damage from staying inside the fire.

The description on the LoC's skill in that case is misleading, because it doesn't separate burst damage from the resulting AoE dot. Regardless, it still seems that the damage done is preloaded for each part of time that you're in the AoE, so that's why it seems to keep doing damage even though you're way out of the AoE.

it doesnt have any initial aoe damage tho Razz i have duration hero set to 0, and full damage dealt set to 0. it only does the secondary dot
but yes, it definatly doesnt check to see if the unit is inside the fire every .08 seconds. thats for sure. it porlly checks every .5 or something
