Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
I liked the old skillset more tbh
My suggestion? Keep ranged mode blade storm, merge both defends (but drop the bonus spell resistance) and to back to a mix of the current melee ult and the old one
(all names and use of the word 'old' reference your first suggested skillset.)
For the inmate, ranged mode itself should be its own bonus. And skills can have bonuses for when he is in melee, but shouldn't change when he's ranged.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
I liked Lightning Strike, as it highlights his flexibility the best. Plus, I was wondering if he changes weapons, does that reset the cooldowns on his skills? Because he could transition from a bladestorm to a strike seamlessly in his counterattacking prowess.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
If it was the same skill no. And if it was a different skill them it wouldn't convert with the mode switch. Which is another reason it and the ult wouldn't work so well

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
Isn't there a way to trigger it like that, though? Internal cooldowns and the like?

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
If a hero with a morph skill morphes into a hero with different skills, the non matching skills won't stay learned.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
Can you tell a single skill to use different effects by differentiating between melee and range switches?
Or can't you create 2 different characters?
Or can't you create 2 different characters?

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
Not if it has different targets.
There isn't a feasable way to have a morphing hero have two different level-upable skills(ets)

Do you need to morph him? Does Troll morph? oo Just trying to explore all alternatives.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
The only way to make a hero ranged is by morphing them.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
You can make both spells single target spells such that the ranged will shoot out in the direction of that target, while the melee will perform as written.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
I think I could make that work.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
And then we have the ult to deal with. Both are passives with much different effects. Could they work?
The reason I separated the defend is because damage reduction is much more important at range, when many nukes and ranged attacks will hit him, while evasion is more important as you get close, since more often than not people will rely on normal attacks to finish off heroes.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
I don't think he even needs the ult's orb cause of bladestorm

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
I also feel the need to point out the following:
•in tt, the defensive strong point of the sore avengers was melee, so (following tt) the melee bonuses should be defensively oriented.
•he has two blinks in the form of melee bladestorm and faithful into war.
Just food for thought.

He has one blink, actually. I can do the melee-defensive thing, though.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
melee mode bladestorm is a blink strike, and faitful unto war is a blink
edit: also, a hero shouldnt ever have 2 distinct skillsets that he can access throughout the game.
chosing one at the start is ok, but being able switch back and forth is a no-go.
so i think he should have his base skillset (bladestorm, defend, faithful, diresword) that gets defensinve bonuses when he is in melee mode

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
Where does it stay faithful unto war is a blink? Quote it for me, because I'm blind.
I know you're allowed to change your mind, but really? Weren't we stressing the whole flexibility portion? I don't see your point behind the two distinct skillsets, when there is only one active on the whole build and each part has a shared cooldown.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
Well. It was there
and we both know it.
I suggest you at least post *update* or something.
Oh and I suggest you remove the "/active" from the skill description.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
Grass, it was there, but the skill description isn't that of a blink, so it's a moot point. :p
Include the whole context. :]
*points to earlier question about skillsets*

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
It used to be a blink untill you stealth changed it
And a hero shouldn't have modular skillset. Its a bad idea from a game design point of view.

Re: [HERO] Asurmen, Phoenix Lord of the Dire Avengers
How do you know it's a bad idea? Have you tried it and had lots of data and experience to definitively say it's an absolutely, 100% terrible idea without any doubt?
Answer truthfully, please.
