"What's your Army" Remake

What a fight to see would be necrons with a monolith, versous nids with broodlord.

Necrons win. Gauss weaponry would eat away Nids. Monolith Particle Whip vs Genestealer group = gg.

id try to argue, but i don't know nids stuff, only chaos. I know chaos would have a hell of a time with necros

I play dark eldar for two reasons. The reason I tell everyone is because they're fast, have amazing weapons, can cope in close and long range, and the webway gate leads to some amazing tactics. The real reason is that I started when I was little, and "intergalactic space pirates" appealed to my childish glee.

Hey, I was sort of wondering...

... is there any website that offers a description as to how each 40k army plays like? I got this gist of things from the games workshop website, but it didn't really help in terms of how they go about doing what they do.

Like, what's the difference between Orks, Tyranids, and Imperial Guard? Are Choas Space Marines and Regular Space Marines really that different? And what about Eldar and Dark Eldar? The four different Space Marine chapters?

ummm, do you have a rulebook? do you understand how the game is played? cause we can just give you the pdf's of the codexes to look through.

but in a non-complete answer to you question:
eldar: specialization - specific unit to a specific role
dark eldar: raiders and quick strikes, light and deadly

chaos and space marines are both similar, but chaos goes more into wargear and special effects, and usually has heavyer hitters for more points, while the space marines are the 'jack of all trades' army

ig: mass guns - lots and lots of weak little guys with some epic firepower to support them, focus on range
nids: mass melee - lots and lots of weark little creatures with some epic monstrous creatures to back them up, focus on melee
orks: a bit of both - lots and lots of tough guys with some powerful support guys to back them up, can do good shooting and good melee.

and the marine chapters are variations on the basic marines...

im not the best one to have dont that... but i hope that ives you a basic idea.

GW is incredibly anal retentive when it comes to websites discussing the internal workings of WH/WH40k ... that being said, that's why man invented the Torrent. There are plenty of torrents out there that include all of the rulebooks ... or if you're rich, you can go out and buy all of the rulebooks.

PS: There are alot more than four Space Marine chapters.

a looooot more. And I'm planning to release a torrent that literally has all of the codices ever made. Maybe a few of the old ones are missing, but it's otherwise complete.

It'd be awesome if you could link a pdf or two . I'm thinking about playing the tabletop game, but I have no idea which army to pick. The lack of "good guys" makes it a little confusing, since I try and pick whoever the "good guys" happen to be when it comes to wargaming.

And I mean there are four chapters on the website (regular, space wolf, blood angel, and gray knights), so that's all I had to go by from. >.>

They all have their intentions, wrapped up in heresy and deceit. Salamanders are the closest you're going to come to "good guys".

Actually... most of the armies in the game are religious fanatics. All Space Marine Chapters / IG / Sisters of Battle -> the God Emperor of Mankind (or, for the IG / SoB, one of his Saints). Orks -> the Warboss (in the name of Gork and/or Mork - could also be argued they worship battle). Eldar ... they're too busy trying to control everyone else, but they do have their own set of unique beliefs. Dark Eldar ... the entire reason they fight is to steal souls to save themselves from the god they created, Slaanesh. Necrons -> C'tan, their sole (soul, get it?) reason for "living" (if you can call it that). Chaos Space Marines -> Every time they enter the materium it is at the whim of one of the Chaos Gods (Khorne, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, Nurgle).

Tau are really the only non-religious faction ... and they're communists, so they don't count.
Though they do somewhat worship the Ethereals ... but, again, communists, so fuck 'em!

EDIT: Oh, and Tyranids ... well, fuck the Hive. They're abunch of bugs. No religion.

Im into all of them, minus the weak imperium. They just cant cut it against the other races of w40k.

Anyways, I play them. I got them because I started with the Assault On Black Reach set (which may or may not have been the bestest of choices) and I have loved them ever since.

SMs, chaos, and eldar are usually my piece of cake, but also Im really into a good ork army... Just really worth remembering

Pick Space Marines. I would easily call them the most "bad-ass" army there is, and it's a great starting army for new players. They're easy to learn, easy to play.
