forfiet command? Empty forfiet command?

Post by Grass Hopper on Tue Feb 16, 2010 9:09 pm

should there be a forfiet command? and if so, lets hammer out some conditions.

lets say this to start:
game time must be more than 25 minutes

and one of these:
your team must be losing by more than 15 kills (or have a k:d ratio of 2:1, up to you guys)
-or-
your team must be down by 1 player
-or-
you have no base outposts (or have lost one base outpost)

edit:
most people vote but dont comment XD
I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO WORK THIS! WHAT SHOULD THE CONDITIONS FOR FORFEIT BE?

Exactly... don't let them die in vain. Give up when the game is pretty much over but is going to last for another hour because the other team has bad pushing heroes...

Great topic to start up but, yes many games do have forfeit command and this should as well.. sometimes theres just a time where theres absolutely no way to win, your pushed, and you dont want to sit there and waste time pretty much =]

and one of these:
your team must be losing by more than 15 kills (or have a k:d ratio of 2:1, up to you guys)
-or-
your team must be down by 1 player
-or-
you have no base outposts (or have lost one base outpost)

The first condition is fine. 25 minutes usually is long enough to tell whether an absolute rout is on or not.

As for the options:
If you make it by kills, it'll be so easy to forfeit. I mean, when we played the in-house yesterday, 4 members of my team had at least 10 kills and the overall K/D/A for us was like 61/38/73, which was ridiculous, but your team still had fight up to about 40 minutes.

Down by one player is a double-edged sword, because sometimes you get leaver items and sometimes you don't. Many a time, the lesser side can prevail, so I don't like that one.

If you've lost both base outposts, then I feel that's an adequate condition for surrender, at least until we implement a way to help get them back.

Also, the command has to include a unanimous vote by the team who's forfeiting.

Perhaps you could include something about level difference?

hmm. level difference is a good one.

how about this:
forfeit requires: 25 minutes have elapsed, and either both base outposts are taken, or the overal level difference is more than 15 levels.
(so the combined total of team one's levels is 15 more than the combined total of team two's levels)

forfiet command? Empty Re: forfiet command?

That sounds fine. I usually contribute 6-7 of those levels when I pub, so fifteen's attainable, but only in extreme circumstances, which would probably demand a forfeit. That then complicates the factor of auto-balance, as people are wont to leave in a rout.

why would you need a forfeit command when alt qq is already built into wc3

Unless you have a bot keeping track of points to ban leavers or something like that (which isn't a good idea to begin with)

We don't keep track of points, but in some cases it would be better to have such an option with a set of very tightly controlled conditions.

I really think the only two conditions that should affect whether or not you can forfeit are after the first 15-25 minutes and all of your team have to vote yes to it. This way if someone doesn't want to give up then the team cant give up, and you cant in the being of the fight. Hope this help.

I'm against forfiet... It just gives bitchers another opportunity to ruin a game... If so, and you WANT a command like that, make it so all players ingame have to vote, if so much as one doesn't vote... No ff.

for sure the entire forfieting team needs to vote yes, but i dont think all the winning team shojuld need to vote, just like 3/5 or something

forfiet command? Empty Re: forfiet command?

How about this:

Work it on a points system. The forfeit command is locked until a certain number of points have been accumulated.

- Game time must be longer than 30 minutes. 1 point.

- The forfeiting team must either be down in kills by 20 or have a 1:2:x KDA. For every 10 kills down, 1 point.

- The entire forfeiting team must vote in favor as well as 3/5ths of the opposing team. Every vote counts as 1 point.

- If both base outposts are down, each of them counts as one point.

So one team needs to get, as a random number, 12 points to forfeit. 8 would come from votes and the rest from the in-game events.

! I don't like level difference, because people that know how to play the game can easily get up 5-6 levels than their pubby counterpart.

That works. But you can only get 2 points outside of votes and you need 4 points if you get the minimum votes and you need 2 if you get max votes. Good for thought Razz even tho I know its just a random number Razz

And I think a large enough level difference should count. In the same way that a large enough kda ratio difference makes a difference

Err. You can get points from other things. You might need to read a bit closer? xD

Base Outposts, KDA, Game Time, and I'll add level difference for you.

For every 10 level difference between the forfeiting team and the winning team, 1 point.

You get a lot more than 2 points outside of votes, grass. xD Seeing as only 8 people can vote.

Fine Razz

So:
To forfeit you need 12 points. Points are gained by the following:
The entire forfeiting team as well as 3/5 of the other team votes in favor - 8 points
Every vote past the 3/5 mark for the enemy team - 1 point

30 minutes have past - 1 point
Kda ratio of 1:2 or the forfeiting team is down by 20 kills - 2 points
Every 10 more kills less than the opposing team - 1 point
Both base outposts are dead - 2 points

You have to make the forfeiting team vote an absolute requirement for the forfeit, no matter how many points they have.

There also has to be a way to cancel a forfeit, in the event the other team changes their mind.

I'm assuming that when the vote is started it would wait for the 5 votes from team 1 and 3 from team 2.
Then it would count up points and if it doesn't make 12, it'll wait for enough votes to make 12 points
And if its not possible to make 12 points at all then it won't start the vote

And then any time between starting the vote and when the last vote comes in a person can so a cancel command.
