PostSubject: Sergeant Baston, Inquisitorial Storm Trooper   Wed Apr 28, 2010 7:34 pm

'The Inquisitons maintaines entire regiments of highly trained crack troopers, further trained then even the the Karskin of Cadia. Inquisitorial Stormtroopers are tasked with the protection and security of the Black Ships, and the Inquisitorial Fortresses across the universe. There is no such Exemplary storm trooper as Sergeant Baston, who due to numerous brushes with chaos has attained incredibly advanced experience and training. He unfortunately remembers nothing of most of it, due to the mind wipes necessary after each incident to maintain his sanity."

    Innate: Superior Training (Passive)
"All storm troopers undergo rigorous training, far superior to that of all troops in the Imperium, short of the Space Marines."
The installment of any storm trooper to any force might grant you a better man, but a Sergeant, with decades of combat experience, is able to transfer some of his knowledge and skill to the soldiers around him. Passively grants 5/6/7/8/9/10% Damage and Attack Speed Aura, Squad range. ( Roughly 400 Aoe around the Sergeant)

    Sergeant at Arms: (Active, Summon)
"While any single Stormtrooper is an incredible fighting machine, a Sergeant is nothing without his squad, tailored with weapon to fit any obstacle."
Summons Stormtroopers, Armed with a variety of weaponry. ( Only ONE squad)
    Manacost: 150, Cooldown: 60 Seconds
Level 1: 2 Hellgun Armed Storm Troopers
Level 2: Adds a Trooper with a Grenade Launcher
Level 3: Adds a Trooper with a Melta Gun
Level 4: Adds a Trooper with a Flamer
All troopers have 450 Hp, 5 Normal Armor, and 15% Evasion
Hellguns: Roughly same as shooter orcs/marines
Grenade Launcher: Small Splash, slow attack speed, and increased damage, (Slight Knock back)
Melta Gun: Half Range of shooter orcs/marines, double damage, and a -1 Armor Orb
Flamer: Large Splash, VERY short range, and suppresses whoever hit, slowing their move speed by 20% for 3 Seconds. Fast attack Speed, low damage

    Incorruptibility (Passive)
" No Storm Trooper is allowed to even begin training for the inquisiton without passing hundreds of tests of purity and incorruptibility."
Sheer will allows the Sergeant to resist most magic and pysker abilities. Grants 4/6/8/10% Magic Resistance, as well as giving a 5/10/15/20% Chance to block a spell, with a 45/40/35/30 second Cool Down.

    Demolitions! (KABOOM!!!!!!!)
"No advanced weaponry training is complete without a full set and course of advanced demolitions, perfect for destroying pesky buildings or unwary enemy troops"
Creates a 400 Aoe Explosive Charge at the targeted location. After a 5 second Delay, It detonates, dealing 150/250/350/450 Damage.
    Manacost: 100/150/200/250
    Cooldown: 30 Seconds

    Ultimate: Final Sanction
"It is the grim, but neccesary duty of the inquisition to execute the heretics captured in battle, for many are far to dangerous to be allowed to live"
Deals 150/200/250 Damage for the shot. If the Target was equal to, or under 200/300/400 Hp when it is cast, it Kills the Targeted Hero Instantly.
    Manacost: 250
    Cooldown: 120 Seconds

Eh..doesn't seem that really much unique, it almost looks run of the mill.

Quick comments. I kind of agree with Zebio on this. >>

Innate is a little dull, we already have 3 to 4 innates that work in that way. >< And the values are low regardless.

Until we test the normal armor, I'm iffy about it for the summons.

Your last three heroes have had something to do with magic resistance or mana burn... Do you really need to continue the pattern?

400 AoE is rather large for an explosive device. It's basically a little larger than the stronghold.

And the ult is ridiculous. Nu-uh. Stormtroopers are not that good with their weapons. What's the justification for an insta-kill move anyway?

Well, the justification is that its a "The guys allerady dying, this is an official execution'. Its basicly inefective unless the person is at a realy low hp.

I could always put in some other ability instead of the antimagic i guess, i have a few ideas floating around in my head.

The other idea for the innate was it gives acess to different kinds of weapons, im not sure how it would work though, so i wanted to ask what was possible first.

Secondly, at this stage, the numbers are adjustable. If 400 aoe is too big, ill drop it down to say, 150, and if i do that, would the damage be allright as it is?

Ok, One idea i had is switch the Innate to a passive crit chance, say 10% for x3/x3.2/x3.4/x3.6/x3.8/x4.0, with a stacking 1% Chance per shot to add a stun for 2 Seconds.

One idea for an ult i had was to have him call in a large damage, small aoe 'Lance strike'

Something like 400/500/600 Damage in a 100 Aoe, slowing all hit by 10/20/30 % for 5 Seconds

The other was to home in some Grey Knights

Basicly it would make a grey knight projectile which would fly at the target, dealing decent damage and looping around to hit various units in the area

Here's one major point of contention.

Bastonne's not even a storm trooper. He's just a normal Imp. Guard Sergeant.
He possesses a great memory and loves his guardsmen to bits. He's also OCD fanatical, which doesn't surprise me, yet endlessly mournful of all his fallen soldiers. Interesting lad, but not my cup of tea.

Are you trying to model him after this particular sergeant? Or do you just want a Storm Trooper?

Well Glyc... I just took the name. There are no real major characters that are Storm Troopers, I could change the name if it really bothers you. And btw, hes not 'just a normal sergeant' even in the Codex, hes 'the face of the Storm Trooper Regiment'. The only thing i twisted is he is not an Inquistional Storm Trooper, hes an Imperial Guard one.

The name can be changed if it is such a big deal, but is there any other ideas about him that regard his actual game play abilities and not fluff? Even though i love fluff.
